Since 1994, the Cowan family has been committed to doing logistics differently — building a company rooted in hard work, integrity, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.

What started with one truck and the acquisition of Bob Clark Trucking has grown into one of the Tri-State region’s premier specialized carriers. Today, Silver Creek Transportation operates 75 power units, hauling hazardous materials and dry goods across 48 states with precision, safety, and professionalism.

Growth didn’t happen by accident. It happened because of our team.

From day one, we’ve made intentional investments in quality equipment, specialized training, and building a culture where safety and service come first. In 2020, we launched our Hazardous Materials Division to meet increasing demand for specialized, compliant transport. In 2024, we significantly expanded our Towing & Recovery Division, elevating our capabilities in heavy-duty recovery, roadside assistance, and semi repair. In 2025, we continued strategic growth with the acquisitions of Bluegrass Transport and Expedidors, strengthening our regional presence and service capacity.

Beyond transportation, Silver Creek has expanded to include over 100,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor warehouse space to better serve our customers and the businesses in our community.

Our History

Silver Creek Transportation was founded by Jason Cowan in 1994 with one truck and a commitment to do things the right way.

What started as a true mom-and-pop operation has grown into a regional transportation powerhouse serving 48 states. Along the way, we built a specialized team of trucking experts - professionals who understand compliance, hazardous materials, expediting, and complex logistics at the highest level.

We've expanded into a Hazardous Materials Division, strengthened our Towing & Recovery operations, and grown through strategic acquisitions - but we've never lost the culture that built us.

We still value relationships.

Our Community

Agriculture is where we started — hauling grain, fertilizer, and farm supplies — and it’s still part of who we are. The land isn’t just business to us. It’s heritage.

We proudly support 4-H and FFA programs across the Tri-State, investing in the next generation of agricultural leaders. Silver Creek also funds the Cowan Family Scholarship, awarded to graduating seniors who demonstrate excellence and commitment in agriculture.

Beyond the field, we support our local high school bands throughout the Tri-State — transporting equipment during marching season and making sure these students get where they need to be. When they roll out to represent our communities, we’re honored to help carry the load.

At Silver Creek, Brian works alongside Jason Cowan to drive vision into execution — strengthening infrastructure, optimizing performance, and positioning the company for sustainable long-term growth. His ability to balance operational precision with forward-thinking strategy makes him a key force behind Silver Creek’s continued expansion.

Brian is married to his wife, Dora. Outside of work, he enjoys time with family and appreciates a well-crafted bourbon — reflecting his belief that both business and life are best approached with patience, refinement, and attention to detail.

Christopher Piekos

Chief Information Officer

Christopher (Chris) Piekos serves as Chief Information Officer at Silver Creek Transportation, bringing more than 25 years of technical and engineering leadership experience to the organization. Chris holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering and is currently pursuing an MBA with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, further strengthening his ability to align emerging technologies with business strategy.

As CIO, Chris leads Silver Creek’s digital transformation initiatives, overseeing the company’s technology roadmap, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operational systems. He drives modernization efforts across the Transportation Management System (TMS), EDI integrations, telematics, shop management platforms, and data analytics tools to improve efficiency, visibility, and profitability.

Chris partners closely with operations, dispatch, maintenance, and finance teams to streamline workflows, enhance reporting capabilities, and optimize lane and fleet performance. He has also played a key leadership role in merger integration efforts, aligning systems, processes, and assets to create a unified and more profitable operation.

With a background spanning embedded systems, large-scale software programs, and global engineering leadership, Chris brings a disciplined, data-driven approach to technology—focused on improving safety, performance, and long-term growth for Silver Creek Transportation.

Eric Franz serves as Safety Director at Silver Creek Transportation, bringing extensive industry knowledge and leadership experience from multiple transportation organizations. He has led safety departments at several companies and understands what it takes to build a culture of compliance, accountability, and excellence.

At Silver Creek, Eric oversees all safety operations, training, and regulatory compliance. Under his leadership, our safety scores continue to improve — reflecting his commitment to doing things the right way, every time.

Maintenance Manager

Richard joined Silver Creek in 2010 as a driver and has grown with the company ever since. Over the years, he has served in dispatch, safety leadership, and now oversees fleet maintenance — bringing firsthand operational experience to every role.

Today, Richard leads our maintenance department, ensuring our fleet stays active, compliant, and operating at peak performance. His deep understanding of safety standards and quality control helps protect our drivers, our customers, and the communities we serve.

At Silver Creek, safety and customer service are core values — and Richard plays a critical role in upholding both every single day.

Logistics Coordinator

Randall Ripplemeier leads Silver Creek’s logistics operations, overseeing a team of six load planners and coordinating the complex movement of freight across our network. With broad experience in brokerage, load planning, and operational efficiency, Randall understands how to maximize performance while keeping service levels high.

His strategic planning and attention to detail ensure loads move smoothly, drivers stay productive, and customers receive dependable, on-time service.

Account Executive

Joe McGarrh brings a lifetime of transportation experience to Silver Creek. A third-generation industry professional, Joe understands trucking from every angle — operations, customer service, and long-term relationship building.

He joined Silver Creek through the acquisition of Bluegrass Transport and Expeditors and immediately strengthened our customer partnerships. Joe has a reputation for responsiveness, problem-solving, and doing whatever it takes to get the job done right. Simply put, he knows trucking — and he knows how to take care of customers.

Joe is married to his wife, April, and currently serves as a School Board Representative for Henderson County Schools. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling, a good cigar, and catching live performances from the best bands in the country.
